EXABYTE 312629 170m Mammoth AME-1 20-40GB Data Tape Cartridge

These 8mm tapes by Exabyte can store 20GB of uncompressed and 40GB of compressed data. These tapes are compatible with the Exabyte Mammoth tape drives and auto-libraries. While most tapes are Metal Particle (MP), the Exabyte is an Advanced Metal Evaporated (AME) tape. This means that this tape offers expanded recording capacity and lower abrasivity, resulting in less wear and tear. One of the most important features of this 8mm tape cartridge is that the AME magnetic material is vertically aligned, not horizontally, thus resulting in better signal strength and greater capacity. The build-up of static electricity and dust is also reduced through the AME's uniquely formulated back-coating which means that the chances of read/write errors are greatly reduced.
